Easy Cheesy Baked Tortellini
This cheesy baked tortellini is an easy, comforting casserole loaded with cheese-filled tortellini, layered in a rich, savory meat sauce and topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Warm, filling, and full of classic Italian-inspired flavor, this casserole is perfect for an easy family weeknight meal.
My grandkids absolutely LOVE this casserole and ask for it often. What I love, is that I can have a delicious dinner on the table in about 30 minutes. Just add garlic bread and a side salad for a complete meal. Plus this recipe feeds a crowd. If you’re lucky enough to have leftovers, they’re just as good for lunch or dinner the next day. I love meals that last more than one night. Don’t you?
Ingredients
- Cheese tortellini: Use fresh or frozen it doesn’t really matter. I like to use the “flying saucer” shaped ones because they tend to have more cheese in them. But any kind will do. Do NOT overcook or they will fall apart when adding to the sauce mixture.
- Ground beef: Feel free to swap in ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
- Marinara sauce: Use whatever pasta sauce your family likes. We really like the flavor of Rao’s.
- Cream cheese: Creates a smooth, velvety texture that coats pasta well.
- Grated cheese. Both mozzarella and Parmesan make this baked tortellini extra cheesy!
- Seasonings: Enhance the Italian flavors by adding garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the meat.
