Welcome, I’m so glad you are here. I love finding new recipes. It is so easy to get into a rut and make the same meals time and again. While they may be family favorites, sometimes it can be a bit boring for the cook. Right?
Over the past several years, I have made it a point to try at least two new recipes a month. While not all have become our favorites, most of them have. Those, along with my family’s favorites, are the ones I wish to share with you. Through the years, I have collected hundreds of recipes. I’m sure you will find many in this blog that you will love too.
I also want to share some recipes from my mother, aunt, sisters, daughter, daughter-in-law, son (Yes, I have a son who likes to cook!) and Newfoundland friends. Cooking is more than just making a great meal, it’s about relationships and bonding, in the kitchen and at the table.
To quote Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, “Food is a way of bringing people together, even if it’s just for a meal.”
For those of you who are new to cooking, it can be overwhelming trying to decide if your family will like a particular recipe. If that’s the case, take a look at my blog page on How to Choose Recipes That You and Your Family Will Love. Also, if you are new to cooking or just need a quick meal on those busy days, check out the recipe section titled, “Quick and Easy.”
This blog is about celebrating good food and family. It’s not just about sharing recipes but also sharing a piece of our heritage, creating new memories and honoring the old ones. If you have some favorite family recipes, I would be honored if you would share them with me. Please feel free to email me at nana@mykitchenandkin.com.
