0.0 from 0 votes

This honey garlic shrimp, kielbasa, and broccoli dish is a sweet and savory skillet meal packed with bold flavor. Juicy shrimp and smoky sausage are cooked with tender-crisp broccoli, then coated in a sticky honey garlic sauce that adds the perfect balance of sweetness and savory depth. It’s a quick, satisfying dinner that’s both hearty and full of flavor and a great weeknight dish.

I love making this dish for a weeknight dinner. It only needs a few ingredients and it comes together quickly in one skillet. It can be served over a bed of rice or quinoa, but you can also enjoy it as is. It’s a healthy dinner that can be made in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Shrimp: To save time be sure to use raw shrimp with tails off and deveined. I prefer 21-30 count peeled, tail off & deveined shrimp. (Basically this means there are 21-30 shrimp per pound.) While the shrimp’s back has been deveined, the underside has not and this size makes it easier to clean the underside. I know a lot of people don’t take the time to do the second deveining but I’m not comfortable eating shrimp poop.
  • Kielbasa: This is a flavorful, lightly smoked sausage that is pre-cooked. I love using it in recipes. You can also use Smoked sausage or Andouille sausage. Just be sure you are using pre-cooked.
  • Broccoli: I love how broccoli soaks up sauces. Cut a head of broccoli into florets or buy a bag of pre-cut to save time.
  • Honey garlic sauce: This slightly sweet and savory sauce is made using honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil and red pepper flakes (for a bit of heat). If you don’t have honey you can substitute brown sugar lightly packed. However, I would probably reduce to half the amount.
  • Vegetables: You can definitely use and add other vegetables. Try: sweet bell peppers, snap peas, carrots, mushrooms, or asparagus.

Tips

  • Don’t overcook: Keep the shrimp and sausage from overcooking by removing them from the pan once they’re done. Add them back after the broccoli is cooked to keep everything tender.
  • Steam broccoli: Cook the broccoli (and any additional veggies) under a lid for a few minutes, which will speed up the process and steam them until they are al dente.
  • Storage: If you happen to have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or in a skillet on the stovetop.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 1 large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 14 ounces 14 smoked sausage, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces

  • 2 cups 2 fresh broccoli florets

  • 8 cloves 8 garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 honey (or brown sugar lightly packed)

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 soy sauce

  • 1 Tablespoon 1 extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 Tablespoon 1 lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon 1 red pepper flake (for heat)

Directions

  • Prepare ingredients: Peel and de-vein shrimp. Slice sausage into bite size pieces. Cut broccoli into florets. Peel and mince garlic.
  • Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, lemon juice and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  • Cook the sausage: In a large skillet or wok, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the shrimp: In the same skillet or wok, add the shrimp. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until the shrimp turns pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside with the sausage.
  • Cook the broccoli: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet, cover and saute for about 4-5 minutes, until they are tender crisp. You can add a splash of water to the skillet to help steam the broccoli if needed.
  • Combine: Return the sausage and shrimp to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the mixture and stir to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Allow the sauce to thicken slightly and coat everything.
  • Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Vegetables: You can definitely use and add other vegetables. Try: sweet bell peppers, snap peas, carrots, mushrooms, or asparagus.
  • Don’t overcook: Keep the shrimp and sausage from overcooking by removing them from the pan once they’re done. Add them back after the broccoli is cooked to keep everything tender.
